Q.      What type of massage is offered?

Stress management, relaxation, pregnancy and postpartum massage are the most common massage modalities performed.

Q.      What are the benefits of massage for infertility?

Massage helps to increase blood flow to the pelvis and activate the area around the reproductive organs to promote an optimum environment for fertilization. During massage, tensions can begin to be released. When all of the organs and structures can move freely, they can function better and this can help to increase fertility. Not only does this help with the fertility factor, but emotions and stresses that may have been hidden can come to the surface and be eliminated.

Q.      What are the benefits of pregnancy massage?

Massage reduces anxiety and stress by stimulating endocrine changes that promote rest and relaxation and support a healthy functioning state. Blood circulation is increased for mother, the placenta and the baby. Massage reduces back pain, and improves mood and promotes better sleep. It also helps reduce tension and pain associated with hormonal and postural changes and weight gain.

Q.      Is it safe to receive massage during my pregnancy?

Yes. Jen Jones, our massage therapist, is certified in pre-natal massage and educated on the precautions and contraindications associated with pregnancy. As long as your pregnancy has not been classified as high-risk, massage is a great benefit to you during all three trimesters.

Q.      How long should I wait to receive a massage after delivery?

There is no actual time frame. You can receive massage as soon as you feel ready. Post partum massage can be very beneficial to your body after the trauma of delivery. Massage helps aid in healing by circulating oxygen rich blood though your body. It also reduces the incidence of postpartum depression. Precautions for postpartum massage are treated like pregnancy massage for three months following delivery.
